Reminder: CADTH and Choosing Wisely Canada (CWC) are looking for insight into the experience of patients living with systemic autoimmune diseases

Hospitals across Canada are in need of guidance on the minimum re-testing intervals for lab tests. This need was identified by hospitals participating in CWC’s initiative "Using Labs Wisely”, a national consortium of hospitals committed to making a measurable impact on reducing low-value lab testing in Canada.

To support this work, CADTH and CWC are creating a panel (including a patient representative, clinicians, and lab experts) to review evidence and provide consensus guidance on the minimum re-testing intervals for pre-specified lab tests and patient populations. Evidence will include a literature review and hospital data.

They would also like to include patient perspectives about lab tests for the following:
  • Hemoglobin A1c
  • Lipid panel
  • Thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH)
  • Antinuclear antibody (ANA)
  • Serum protein electrophoresis (SPEP)
  • Brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) and N-terminal pro b-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP)
  • Lipase
