What has ACE done for you lately? Here’s what we’ve been up to during Arthritis Awareness Month in Canada
In this issue of “What has ACE done for you lately” – a monthly roundup of what we have accomplished and what we are currently working on - we highlight our campaigns in the workplace, healthcare, and research.
Congratulations to our winners!
Arthritis Consumer Experts is proud to recognize TELUS, Agricultural Financial Services Corporation and cfactor Works Inc. as winners of the inaugural Canada’s Best Workplaces for Employees Living with Arthritis. Read September’s JointHealth™ monthly to learn more.
In honour of the winners of Canada’s Best Workplaces for Employees Living with Arthritis, ACE created an online conversation with hashtag #BestArthritisWorkplace on @ArthritisNetwrk and @ACEJointHealth. Please include this hashtag in your online discussions on work and arthritis in order to promote best practices at work.
Private Payer Education Webinar
Arthritis Consumer Experts co-presented with its scientific partner, the Arthritis Research Centre of Canada, an arthritis education webinar for Empire Life senior managers and the company’s network of advisors across Canada. ACE hopes to develop arthritis education programming for other private insurance carriers and their advisors.
Patient input submissions
On August 15, ACE reached out to its membership to submit patient input on the Common Drug Review’s first subsequent entry biologic (SEB) reviews. This particular call for patient input was on the SEB called infliximab (Remsima™ and Inflectra™) for ankylosing spondylitis, plaque psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis.
Arthritis Alliance of Canada’s 2nd Annual Conference and Research Symposium
Arthritis Consumer Experts has been busy working closely with its Arthritis Alliance of Canada consumer/patient colleagues to plan the Consumer Workshop being held at this year's Annual Symposium and Conference. As part of this year's conference activities, ACE and its consumer partners will be honouring a consumer leader in the community with the inaugural Qualman-Davies Arthritis Consumer Leadership Award.
The Qualman-Davies Arthritis Consumer Community Leadership Award recognizes a person’s contributions to ensuring Canadians living with the disease are meaningfully included in arthritis decision-making processes that affect millions of people living with the disease. That is the legacy of Ann Qualman and Jim Davies - two of Canada’s early pioneers in arthritis advocacy. The application deadline is October 10, 2014. Click here to submit a nomination form.
Connecting through social media
Throughout the month of September, we featured “Spotlight on Arthritis Superheroes” on the Arthritis Broadcast Network. Posts under this category showcased the works of people who have been making a difference in the arthritis world, including researchers, bloggers, and individuals living with the disease.
ACE is always looking for ways to collaborate with our community. Please contact us at info@jointhealth.org to learn how you can help increase awareness for arthritis.
