In this episode of Arthritis At Home, ACE Programs Coordinator Ellen Wang has a discussion with Elizabeth Houlding, a physiotherapy student from the University of Toronto, on equity considerations for osteoarthritis care. Elizabeth shares how she got involved in research at the end of her undergraduate studies and how it has informed her interest in physiotherapy.

Elizabeth wrote her honours thesis with the supervision of Dr. Peter Tugwell at the University of Ottawa. For her project, she approached health care providers in the field of osteoarthritis and asked them to rate the different non-surgical interventions such as physical activity and assistive devices using an equity lens. Specifically, she examined the feasibility, health system effects, universality and impact on inequities of each intervention. The findings from her work are being used to move knowledge into practice.
