JointHealth™ express   October 7, 2010

Our newest JointHealth™ web workshop interviews Dr. Allen Lehman of the Arthritis Research Centre of Canada (ARC) about a new Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) funded research project.

Dr. Lehman is part of a team that will be examining the frequency of hip pain and other factors associated with hip osteoarthritis in three subsets of the Canadian population (Chinese, Aboriginal, and Caucasian people). It is believed that the occurrence is highest amongst Aboriginal Peoples, so the goal of the study is to reduce the burden of arthritis in Aboriginal communities and ultimately to prevent the disease.

This project is part of a larger study examining the possibility that specific types of exercise, combined with a subtle hip deformity, may lead to hip osteoarthritis.

This web workshop will be of interest to those who would like to learn more about this exciting new project.
