In this episode of Arthritis At Home, we are sharing the #CRArthritis interview Arthritis Broadcast Network conducted with Dr. Rae Yeung, Professor of Paediatrics, Immunology and Medical Science at the University of Toronto. Dr. Yeung discusses the multisystem inflammatory syndrome of childhood that some children are developing after contracting COVID-19. Dr. Yeung shares current research on this disease (known as multisystem inflammatory syndrome of childhood or ‘MIS-C’), including information about what MIS-C is, how it impacts the body and which children may be more at risk for developing it. She also explains the relationship between MIS-C and arthritis and highlights some important research questions that should be prioritized moving forward.
Dr. Rae Yeung is a Senior Scientist in Cell Biology Research, and the Hak-Ming and Deborah Chiu Chair in Translational Paediatric Research at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), University of Toronto. Dr. Yeung attended the University of Toronto and obtained her medical degree there, training in Paediatrics at SickKids and completing her Ph.D. in Immunology at the Ontario Cancer Institute.
