September is National Arthritis Month and we’ve “gone mobile” to raise awareness

Just in time for National Arthritis Month in Canada, Arthritis Consumer Experts (ACE) and the Arthritis Research Centre of Canada (ARC) are pleased to announce the launch of two free arthritis apps: ArthritisID and ArthritisID PRO.

ArthritisID and ArthritisID PRO are provided for free as part of the Arthritis is cured! (if you want it) National Arthritis Awareness Program (NAAP), and developed to expand the conversation on arthritis with the public and healthcare professionals.

All about ArthritisID:
  • Screen for arthritis – ArthritisID’s interactive arthritis screening tool and questionnaire will help you determine indications of a type of arthritis
  • Understand arthritis better – ArthritisID features treatment strategies and medication information for: osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, lupus, gout and juvenile idiopathic arthritis (kids get arthritis too!)
  • You can trust ArthritisID – the most current, evidence-based information on prevention of arthritis, as well as information about exercise, diet and nutrition
  • Save it! ArthritisID lets you save past arthritis screenings, or those of friends and family
  • Share it! ArthritisID lets you send important arthritis information and resources by e-mail from the app directly to those who need it
  • Connect to the North American arthritis community through social media networks and access more resources
All about ArthritisID PRO:
  • Interactive arthritis screening tool and questionnaire to determine indications of a type of arthritis
  • Current “best practice” guidelines for detecting, diagnosing and managing arthritis
  • Continuing Medical Education (CME) activity accredited by the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) providing Mainpro® M2 Credits
  • Treatment strategies and medication information for: osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, lupus, gout and juvenile idiopathic arthritis
  • Five instructional arthritis joint exam videos presented by North America’s leading rheumatologists – once the app is installed, each video will play without requiring an Internet connection
  • Self-care information for patients to better manage their arthritis, including exercise, prevention, diet and nutrition
  • E-mail functionality: e-mail information directly from ArthritisID PRO to patients or colleagues
  • Links to thought leaders in the North American arthritis community
The functionality of the apps was carefully considered, and as a result both apps have the following features:
  • Adjustable text size
  • An Internet connection is not required to operate
  • Unlimited free access to all features – all materials are available in English AND French. There are no subscription fees or hidden costs.
You can do your part to raise awareness about arthritis by downloading the apps, telling your friends and family about them, and showing the apps to your family doctor. Even if you are not a healthcare professional, we recommend downloading ArthritisID PRO, in addition to ArthritisID. The PRO version has five joint exam videos that you can show to your family doctor.

To download them straight from Apple's iTunes App Store, please follow these links: If you would like to learn more about ArthritisID and ArthritisID PRO, including viewing feature videos for the apps, please click here.
